the purpose is to enlarge my knowledge.
I would like to share what i learn from dic.
So, i will post the 5-7 new words that i learn daily....

1) aback--adv. taken aback=suprised,
unpleasantly

(ex) He was taken aback by the turn of events.
2) abacus--n. (pl. abacuses) device for counting, made of small beads which slide along rods in a frame

(ex) Do you know how to work an abacus?
3) abalone--n. type of Pacific shellfish.
鲍鱼
(ex) Abalone is a shellfish that can be eaten and whose shell contains MOTHER OF PEARL.
4) abandon--v. (a) to leave. (b) to give up.
abandonment, n. giving up
丢弃;遗弃;中止
(与oneself 连用)使放纵; 使听任(+to)
放纵,放任; 狂放
(ex) The broken bike was found abandoned by the river side.
(ex) the crew abandoned the burning ship.
(ex) He finally abandoned his reformist ideas.
(ex) She abandoned herself to despair.
5) abashed--adj. ashamed
尴尬的,羞惭的
(ex) Biscuit feel abashed because of something that he has done to ice-cream. (sentence by wasabi)
6) abate-- v. to become less strong. abatement, n. reduction (in tax)
减少,减弱,减轻
对(价格)打折扣
[法律]撤消,废除;消除
(ex) Nothing could abate his rage
(ex) abate part of the price
(ex) We must abate the smoke nuisance in our big cities.
(ex) the storm has abated.
